A program of massage can have major health benefits.
Massage relieves stress, muscle pain, tension, reduces blood pressure and boosts the immune system.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage was developed in the 1700's by a Swedish doctor named Per Henrik Ling. The main purpose is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable. Swedish massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves at the same time. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical and is a recommended part of any stress management program.

Myofascial Massage

Myofascial massage stretches the fascia and releases the bonds between fascia, integuement, muscles and bones with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing range of motion and balancing the body. The fascia is manipulated, directly or indirectly, allowing the connective tissue fibers to reorganize themselves in a more flexible, functional fashion.
Injuries, stress, inflammation, trauma and poor posture can cause the fascia to restrict. Since it is an interconncted web, the restriction or tightness in one place, with time, can spread to other places like a pull in a sweater. The goal of myofascial massage is to release fascia resctriction and restore health to the tissue.

Reflexology

Reflexology Foot Chart Also known as "Zone Therapy" Reflexology is the massage of squeezing or pushing on the parts of the feet or sometimes the hands and ears. The main tenant is that areas on the foot correspond to parts of the body and that by manipulating these one can improve health through the unblocking of the ch'i, releasing endorphins or increasing lymphatic flow in the body.
